Connect to the FDX Box
First, turn on your box. Blue lights indicate the box to be booting. Red and green lights mean the box is ready. Connect to the WiFi Hotspot of the box by choosing the FDX Network.
Use the credentials you received with the Box.
Then use my.filmdatabox.com as the URL in your browser
Again, take a look at your credentials and log in.
You can already work with the FDX Box now to backup and transcode directly connected devices.
But the Box needs Internet for more settings and uploads.
Go to „Network“ and connect the Box to a known WiFi Network.
Now you can use all available features of the FDX Box.
Click Project Settings and create a new Project with a click on the plus.
Type in company and project name.
With a click on „Save“, the Box will create your project. It is currently set on the default settings. Using these default setting you could start right away to work with the project. There are some pre-configured metadata like: Shooting Day, Director or DoP. You can change, add or delete this data.
We will go on with Transcodes Section. There are three different pre-configured Transcodes by default: Preview, DNXHD36 and AVC-INTRA 100. You can as well create custom transcodes. Just click one the „Plus“ and give the Transcode a Name, choose your preferred codec, Resolution and a bitrate.
You could also burn in Clip name and the Clip Timecode. Now you can set up the Upload Destinations for your Transcodes. There is no destination set by default, but you have 7 possible upload destinations such as ftp, sftp, Dropbox, FDX Cloud and others.
At the end you can check all settings on the main Project Settings screen.
Click on „User Management“.
Log in to the Cloud. The User Management Dashboard opens. Here you can see all your Users.
To create a new one, click on the Plus Symbol.
For any new User you can choose between three types:
The Administrator has full control: Project and User management, Data Management and FDX Cloud.Data Managers can process all Data and use the FDX Cloud, but have no access to Project and User management. This is mainly for Data Wranglers and or anyone responsible for Data Backup on SetCloud User can only use FDX Cloud with downloading Files. This is mainly for Editors or Directors. Let’s create a new user. This will be a Data Manager, we name him Tom. To set Tom, enter his Mailadress and create a password. Tom will now get an E-Mail with his login Data. User Data can be changed and Users can be removed later. With a click on „Done“ the box will create the User and you will see Toms Profil. Now you can assign a project to Tom, which he can work on. In our case it’s the Project Test. Be aware, that you have to Save all changes with a click on „save changes“. Wait for confirmation.
After that you can go back to the User Management dashboard and you will see Toms profile has been created. If you want to test it you should Log out yourself with a click on the „Log Out“ Tab and Login again as Tom.
